    Tose Zafirov

    Mr. Olympia Representative

    Tose Zafirov:

Hello, Lepomir. I want to start by saying how much I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview. I'll get to it immediately since I know your busy schedule. So, who is Lepomir Bakic? Furthermore, what are the most important events in your life, and how did they help you become the person you are today?

    Lepomir Bakic:

Thank you, Tose, for having me here. It's a pleasure. Lepomir Bakic is the father of one son and a bodybuilding champion.

All my life, I have aimed to be a person that others recognize and remember by good. Also, I want to inspire and motivate people who want to improve their lives.

    Tose Zafirov:

You have reached a lot of success over the years. But what do you consider to be your greatest achievement? Additionally, do you have a particular competition that sticks out from the others, and you will remember forever?

    Lepomir Bakic:

My biggest successes are Mr. Universe, three times champion of the Arnold Classic, Champion of Europe, and Absolute Champion of Serbia. Still, I would name Mr. Universe from Italy the most special one for me.

    Tose Zafirov:

I'm glad you brought it up. Would you like to share your Arnold Classic experience and what left the biggest impression on you? Moreover, what is the hardest and what is the best part of the competition?

    Lepomir Bakic:

I have had unfortunate and dramatic experiences at Arnold Classic. I got first place three times, but three times I got second, which made me sad. You know how it goes with high expectations. Essentially, it's a great success. No one, especially from the Balkans, has managed to achieve such success.

Above all, it's a huge accomplishment, both for me and for Serbia. In a way, it will stay forever; I will remain enrolled in sports and history with three Arnold Classic titles. To be honest, those three Arnold Classics changed my life.

    Tose Zafirov:

You're right. Your accomplishments have impressed me and the audience. However, we are aware that it isn't always a happy and upbeat experience. I am aware that you were injured in the Netherlands. Would you like to share your experience with this and how you handled it? Additionally, how does a bodybuilder usually handle an injury?

    Lepomir Bakic:

Something that is most difficult for an athlete is getting injured. My injury happened in 2016, and my body hasn't been the same since. Still, it was a turning point in my career. Who knows how far I would have reached regarding competitions and successes if the injury had not happened? Ever since the injury, I have had an operation. I also competed once after that, but I always had a problem with my left side.

Since then, it was never been the same again. Last year, I tried to have surgery again, but nothing helped. Now, I just pray to God that it never happens to me again and does not happen to anyone else. It's the hardest thing to happen to an athlete, and I would not want it to happen to my worst enemy.

    Tose Zafirov:

I am well aware of the importance of working out with a partner. What does your daily routine include, and how does training with Milosh Sarchev look? Furthermore, how did you two become friends, and do you two get along well outside of bodybuilding?

    Lepomir Bakic:

Milos Sharchev is one of the most outstanding professionals I have ever met. We became good friends, then became very close, and soon after, he became my mentor. He is recognizable due to his gigantic series and pieces of training that he designed himself.

The training truly takes your last breath. Therefore, I have my training with him posted on my YouTube channel, so you can watch it there. It was genuinely a struggle for every breath and a battle for life.

    Tose Zafirov:

I've known you and followed you for quite some time now. I can notice that you have completely changed. What's different now? Moreover, how did your life look before making this choice, and how does it look now?

    Lepomir Bakic:

Tose, it's true that you and I have known each other for a long time. I am glad that you have spotted the change in me, and you are right. But what has changed?

I guess it was my outlook on life that has changed primarily. I threw all the doping out of my life, which makes me a much better person. At the same time, I turned to the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is the purest and best faith in the world. Since I turned to it, it has brought me a much better life.

That's why I think I will stay for many more years and never retake anabolics. Unfortunately, many athletes use this big evil, but it does not make them bad people.

    Tose Zafirov:

Would you mind discussing your diet right now? Additionally, what does a bodybuilder need to do to keep his body in shape, and how do you feel about supplements?

    Lepomir Bakic:

My diet is now vegan, as I no longer eat meat. I am in a completely different bodybuilding world, and I completely discarded the meat.

Currently, I live as a vegan and have a good figure as a vegetarian because I have been in sports for a long time. I sometimes use a little vega protein when it comes to supplementation, and I use creatine because I do not consume meat.

    Tose Zafirov:

Where do you find motivation and inspiration for living a healthy life? Moreover, is it difficult to strike a balance between your personal and work life? And besides training, what other activities do you like doing in your spare time?

    Lepomir Bakic:

I never looked for inspiration and motivation in someone else. Instead, I looked for it in every possible field in my life. Sometimes, I found motivation in bad happenings; other times, I felt inspired when I was sad and often from happy moments.

No doubt, it is challenging to remain a professional competitor and balance it with your private life. Therefore, I believe that something always has to endure, and you cannot professionally do both. Or at least I could not. I almost don't have free time.

My whole day is filled with activities, so I can freely state that I rarely have time for anything else.

    Tose Zafirov:

I've also noticed that you successfully manage your YouTube channel. What inspired your idea, and what are your long-term goals? Additionally, you are quite active on other social media platforms like Instagram. Lastly, do you believe that in 2021 having an online presence will be essential for success?

    Lepomir Bakic:

How my channel came about… The idea arose as a suggestion from people who were already successful in the niche. I am talking about my team of Gjorgji and Bojan. They run my YouTube channel and essentially the whole project. Additionally, they spotted that I was the ideal person for this position. So, therefore, they suggested that I pursue it.

That's how it came about last year. I began my YouTube career on the 4th of February last year. I aim to have quality content where people get to learn something valuable and positive at all times. I'm not too fond of the nonsense present on many other channels.

Don't get me wrong; I don't want to offend anyone. My goal is to emphasize that YouTube is primarily for healthy people, athletes, and ones who strive towards progress and work on themselves. Internet presence is essential today, and it's much needed for anyone that wants to succeed.

    Tose Zafirov:

I want to conclude by asking one of my favorite questions. What tips would you provide to all beginners in the fitness industry if you had the chance? In other words, what do you have to say to the world?

    Lepomir Bakic:

Follow your dreams, dream and wish a lot, but always be smart on the way. Don't make mistakes, and don't be carried away by weights, steroids, and muscles in particular. In other words, preserve your health.

Health and time spent on wrong or unimportant things are the only things we can never get back in life. We can buy and find everything else. Therefore, take care of your health and plan your time carefully.

    Final Words

Thank you, Lepomir, for the time and for your honesty. I hope you will continue with even more success and that we will have the chance to talk again soon.
