Today, it gives me immense pleasure to introduce to you Sam Alvey, an American mixed martial artist that is currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division in the UFC. He has been a professional MMA competitor since 2008 and has previously competed for the MFC, King of the Cage, and Bellator. Sam was also a contest on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson.

This is only a short introduction to his life. I am eager to hear his inspirational story, which we’ll find out through this Sam Alvey Interview.

1. Who Is Sam Alvey?

Q: Can you tell the audience a little bit more about yourself, who is Sam Alvey, and how did you discover your love for this sport? What does it mean to be a fighter?

Sam Alvey

A: Above all else, I am a fighter’s fighter. I am a guy who has never said no, and I think that’s the thing that sets me apart from others.

2. What Is The Most Important Skill In MMA

Tose Zafirov

Q: What’s your favorite strike/submission to use in any fight? Do you like to stand with your opponents or take them to the ground? What is the most important skill in MMA? Do you have a favorite martial art, and if yes, which one is it?

Sam Alvey

A: The most important skill in wrestling. There is no MMA without wrestling. Wrestling is the foundation of fighting and it translates to other fighting disciplines in the smoothest manner. Wrestlers have great success against opponents of all styles. My favorite submission and strike are the same thing – the one that works.

3. What Does Your Typical Day Look Like?

Tose Zafirov

Q: You balance being a full-time husband, having a full-time job, and your online presence very well! What does a typical day in the life of Sam Alvey look like?

Sam Alvey

A: Being a full-time husband and father, as well as UFC superstar, leaves me with very little downtime. I wake up early, make breakfast, get the kids to school and make sure they are dressed appropriately. I work out two or three times, pick the kids up from school, cook dinner, teach and then do it all again tomorrow. I have many things I need to tend to throughout the day, which leaves mi with little leisure time.

4. What Is Your Diet Lifestyle?

Q: What is your diet lifestyle? What advice would you give to people who want to seek a healthier lifestyle, especially when it comes to their meals?

Sam Alvey

A: I have a fairly balanced meal, but recently I’ve decided I’m not going to have any more wheat. I’ve done enough research to find out that bread terrible for you and it’s addictive. Consuming too much wheat can lead to digestive problems, such as bloating and water retention. I’m not too happy about this, because I love bread, but it’s important to eat a balanced diet.

5. Importance Of Internet Presence

Q: You also managed to run your YouTube channel. How did you come up with this idea, and what are your plans for the future? In addition, you have a significant presence on other social networks such as Instagram. Do you think that the Internet presence has become a necessary ingredient for success in 2021?

Sam Alvey

A: I enjoy my social media so much. Social media is a great tool for marketing and promotion. Social media also allows me to engage with my audience and nurture a connection. My YouTube channel is growing. My Tik Tok and Instagram are my two favorite social media platforms, though.

6. Merch Products

Q: You have your own merch products. How did you come up with that idea?

Sam Alvey

A: I do have merchandise, and if you go to my website smilensam.com you can see it all. I offer many different custom products on there, like sweatshirts, face masks, phone cases, hoodies, and much more! With my merchandise, I want to promote my brand further and reward my fan base.

7. Training Schedule

Q: How long does it take you to recover from a major fight? What’s the training schedule like?

Sam Alvey

A: Recovering from a fight is really just based on when I’m not injured anymore. Most of the time, I can be back to practice by Monday, but every now and then, it takes a few extra weeks.

8. Dream Fight Opponent

Tose Zafirov

Q: If you could have one dream fight with anyone, who would It be? Who would you love to get in the octagon with?

Sam Alvey

A: My dream fight would be against anyone with a title. I know I’ve got to win a lot of fights between now and the title shot, but I know I can do it.

9. What Makes You a Great Mentor?

Tose Zafirov

Q: What makes you a great mentor?

Sam Alvey

A: I’ve been a coach from day one of my MMA journey. I have been able to learn firsthand what works for me and what works for other people. I’ve been doing this for a long time now, and I can use all of my experience to really help my athletes.

10. What Is Your Message to The World?

Tose Zafirov

Q: Your message to the world, and what advice would you have for others wanting to take up MMA-type sports, especially the young population?

Sam Alvey

A: The number one thing you could do to help your chance of succeeding in MMA is wrestle. It’s the only thing you won’t be able to do competitively once you’re out of school.
