Born on the 11th of October 1986 in Peja, Kosovo, and Metohija, Lepomir Bakic is a well-recognized name and icon in Serbia, the Balkans, and the world.
He has dedicated his life to bodybuilding and health. And no doubt, he has made a name for himself. Over the years, he has won Overall Champion Of Ironman Eurocup 2014, World Champion at Mr. Universe 2013, second place at Arnold Classic 2011 and silver medal IFBB, Absolute Champion Serbia 2010 IFBB, Balkan Champion IFBB, and Multiple national champion IFBB.
Better yet, Lepomir Bakic has won first place on the Arnold Classic, not once, not twice, but three times. It makes him a legend that the world of fitness will always remember and appreciate.
However, we have witnessed an enormous change in his way of life, nutrition, supplementation, and general beliefs. That’s why I am so excited to introduce you to Lepomir Bakic today. We get to witness what was the turning point in his life, what made Lepomir who he is today, firsthand.
1. Who Is Lepomir Bakic?
Q: Hello, Lepomir. To begin, I would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview. I know and understand your busy schedule so that I will get right into it. Who is Lepomir Bakic? What is your life story, including the most critical factors that influenced what you are today?
A: Thank you, Tose, for having me here. It’s a pleasure. Lepomir Bakic is the father of one son and a bodybuilding champion.
All my life, I have aimed to be a person that others recognize and remember by good. I also want to inspire and motivate people that want to improve their lives for the better.
2. What Is Your Biggest Accomplishment?
Q: You have had many successes over the years. What would you single out as your most significant achievement? Is there a competition that stands out from the rest and will forever remain in your memory?
A: My biggest successes are Mr. Universe, three times champion of Arnold Classic, Champion of Europe, and Absolute Champion of Serbia. Still, I would single out Mr. Universe from Italy as the most special one for me, personally.
3. The Experience From Arnold Classic
Q: Yes, I am happy you mentioned it. Would you like to share your experience at Arnold Classic? What left the biggest impression on you? Furthermore, what does the competition look like, which is the most painful and difficult part, and which is the best?
A: I have unfortunate and dramatic experiences at Arnold Classic. I got first place three times, but three times I got the second, which made me sad.
You know how it goes with high expectations. Essentially, it’s a great success. No one, especially from the Balkans, has managed to achieve such success.
It’s a huge accomplishment, both for me and for Serbia. In a way, it will stay forever; I will remain enrolled in sports and history with three Arnold Classic titles. To be honest, those three Arnold Classics changed my lifestyle.
4. More About Lepomir’s Injury
Q: You are right. Both I and the audience are impressed by your achievements. But we know that it’s not always as bright and cheerful. I know that you got an injury in the Netherlands. How did you deal with this, and would you like to share this experience? Also, how does a bodybuilder generally deal with an injury, in your opinion?
A: Something that is most difficult for an athlete is to get injured. My injury happened in 2016, and my body hasn’t been the same since.
Still, it was a turning point in my career. Who knows how far I would have reached regarding competitions and successes if the injury had not happened? Ever since the injury, I had an operation. I also competed once after that, but I always had a problem with my left side.
So, and it was never the same again. Last year, I tried to have surgery again, but nothing helped. Now, I just pray to God that it never happens to me again and does not happen to anyone else. It’s the hardest thing to happen to an athlete, and I would not want it to happen to my worst enemy.
5. More About Milosh Sarchev
Q: I know the importance of having a partner for working out. What does training with Milosh Sarchev look like, and what is your standard routine? How did you two meet, and are you two close friends outside bodybuilding?
A: Milos Sharchev is one of the most outstanding professionals I have ever met.
We became good friends, then became very close, and soon after, he became my mentor. He is recognizable due to his gigantic series and pieces of training that he designed himself.
The training truly takes your last breath. I have my training with him posted on my YouTube channel, so you can watch it there. It was genuinely a struggle for every breath and a battle for life.
6. How Did You Change?
Q: Now, I have known and followed you for a long time. Lepomir Bakic is an entirely new person. What has changed? What did your life look like before this decision, and what does it look like today?
A: Tose, it’s true that you and I have known each other for a long time. I am glad that you have spotted the change in me, and you are right. But what has changed?
I guess it was my outlook on life that has changed primarily. I threw all the doping out of my life, which makes me a much better person.
At the same time, I turned to the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is the purest and best faith in the world. Since I turned to it, it brought me a much better life.
That’s why I think I will stay for many more years and never retake anabolics. Unfortunately, many athletes use this big evil, but it does not make bad people.
7. What About Your Nutrition?
Q: Would you like to share your diet now? What does it take for a bodybuilder to maintain his figure, and what is your attitude towards supplements?
A: My diet is now vegan, as I no longer eat meat. I am in a completely different world of bodybuilding. I completely discarded the meat.
Now, I live as a vegan and have a good figure as a vegetarian because I have been in sports for a long time. I sometimes use a little vega protein when it comes to supplementation, and I use creatine because I do not consume meat.
8. What Is Your Biggest Motivation?
Q: Where do you get inspiration and motivation for a healthy lifestyle? Is it challenging to maintain a balance between private and professional life? What makes you happy besides fitness, and how do you spend your free time?
A: I never looked for inspiration and motivation in someone else. Instead, I looked for it in every possible field in my life.
Sometimes, I found motivation in bad happenings, sometimes I felt inspired when I was sad, and other times when I was happy.
No doubt, it is challenging to remain a professional competitor and balance it with your private life. I believe that something always has to endure, and you cannot professionally do both. Or at least I could not. I almost don’t have free time.
My whole day is filled with activities, so I can freely state that I rarely have free time for anything else.
9. More About The YouTube Channel
Q: Another thing that I have spotted is that you successfully run your YouTube channel. How did this idea come about, and what are your plans for the future? In addition, you have a significant presence on other social networks such as Instagram. Do you think that the Internet presence has become a necessary ingredient for success in 2021?
A: How my channel came about… The idea arose as a suggestion from people who were already successful in the niche.
I am talking about my team of Gjorgji and Bojan. They run my YouTube channel and essentially the whole project. They spotted that I am the ideal person for this position. So they suggested that I pursue it.
That’s how it came about last year. I began my YouTube career on the 4th of February last year. I aim to have quality content where people get to learn something valuable and positive at all times. I’m not too fond of the nonsense present in many other channels.
Don’t get me wrong; I don’t want to offend anyone. My goal is to emphasize the YouTube is primarily for healthy people, athletes, and ones who strive towards progress and working on themselves. Internet presence is essential today, and it’s much needed for anyone that wants to succeed.
10. What Is Your Message To The World?
Q: To sum everything up, I want to ask one of my favorite questions. If you had a chance, what would you advise all beginners in the fitness world? What is your message to the world?
A: Follow your dreams, dream and wish a lot, but always be smart on the way. Don’t make mistakes, and don’t be carried away by weights, steroids, and muscles in particular. In other words, preserve your health.
Health and time spent on wrong or unimportant things are the only things we can never get back in life. We can buy and find everything else. So, take care of your health and plan your time carefully.
